Our comprehensive approach includes assessment of your specific situation and working with you to provide solutions tailored to your specific needs. We offer a range of services to help bolster key areas such as board development, strategic collaborations, organizational assessments, strategic planning, and leadership development.
We provide online and in-person courses to help you start, manage and scale nonprofit organizations. Our signature courses include the Capacity Building Blocks Intensive and 90 Days to a New Nonprofit. Our members can access online courses on demand, including “Building Sustainable Organizations and “How to Demonstrate Need For Services”.
Our coaching programs are designed to help you start a nonprofit, build a sustainable organization and strengthen your leadership skills. Our coaching programs include the Nonprofit Founders’ Challenge, the Emerging Leaders Program, Fundraising in 3-D and Results-Driven Program Design. We will assess your unique situation and work with you to develop a game plan to help you reach your goals and objectives.
We show you how to start your own nonprofit and what to do to hit the ground running once you start. We cover a wide range of topics, including leadership development, collaboration, strategic planning, program development, and other practical knowledge that will help you grow your organization; cut your learning curve and help you avoid mistakes.

Our founder, Valerie F. Leonard, has more than 20 years experience in nonprofit management, having served as a financial analyst for a local health system, the founding executive director of a neighborhood grant making organization and consultant to nonprofits. She is an adjunct instructor for the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Certificate in Nonprofit Management program, and has taught courses in social enterprise at Roosevelt University. Valerie has lived experience with a number of issues our clients and students face.
Members of the Nonprofit Utopia community can subscribe to Clear Impact performance management and case management software for unlimited usage (measures, participant records and users) for $2,200 per year, a 78% savings over the regular starting subscription price of $9,600 per year which only has limited usage included. This software suite may be used to track client outcomes, track strategic planning results and manage community collaborations.
Members will also be eligible to subscribe to GrantsStation, a grants management platform, for $95.00 a year, representing a savings of 86% off the regular membership price of $699 a year. This software may be used to research grant opportunities and to manage the proposal writing process.
